Big Jay Posted October 26, 2010 Posted October 26, 2010 Their is more than just Stage Electrics, White Light, PRG, 10 out of 10 just to name a few. Have a bigger hunt around
mac.calder Posted October 26, 2010 Posted October 26, 2010 Kryptons or Entours? There is no such thing as a Krypton Entour. In the 250 range, you now have the following options:Mac 250 PlusMac 250 KryptonMac 250 EntourMac 250 WashMac 250 Beam

mrjammy83 Posted October 26, 2010 Author Posted October 26, 2010 just to clarify Would prefer entours but kryptons would do missed putting the forward slash in Am currently doing the bigger search but wondered if anyone who happened to have 6 or 8 not doing anything would like to make a little cash.
HobitLight Posted October 28, 2010 Posted October 28, 2010 Hi James, What about IPS? They're based not far from you, just in Oundle! They do Kryptons for £45 per week + VAT. I'm certain their fixtures have been in your venue before anyway! :)

I'm certain their fixtures have been in your venue before anyway! <_< AH Halam indeed they have. Amazingly a little company further up the road in leeds can do the entours (with the extra fixed gob wheel) for £30 aswell as everything else I need. Why pay more for less. Impact prices are fantastic I'll give them that but as they only stock the kryptons with the chavviest set of rotating gobos I have ever seen. I really wanted the entours. Also with everything else I needed IPS were a good £150 more expensive than my new found friend @ light the way. Thanks everyone for all your help and advice AND A MASSIVE WELL DONE AND THANKS TO LIGHT THE WAY FOR PROVIDING AN UNBEATABLE QUOTE. I look forward to working with the kit. cheers guys. Edit to add. for your reference IPS are infact in Olney near milton keynes. Heading towards oundle is a good 40miles in the wrong direction. oooopsy
tokm Posted October 29, 2010 Posted October 29, 2010 Impact prices are fantastic I'll give them that but as they only stock the kryptons with the chavviest set of rotating gobos I have ever seen.Your opinion.. Must say I never found the stock set of gobos in the Kyptons good for theatre, but remember the market they're designed for (corporate/gigs/events) which funnily enough, is what Impact do sh!t loads of.. Thus why they stock them. Just had a look on 'light the ways' website. Hmm.. 250s & 700s shouldn't go out that cheap, not at 'list'/advertised prices anyway. Same with the rest of the kit! Definitely not doing the industry any favours IMO, there's a reason no one else does kit that cheap to everyone! I wonder how many units they actually have availiable at that kinda price <_< T

I wonder how many units they actually have availiable at that kinda price <_< The guy who owns/runs LTW says his prices are so low because his overheads are also low, thus this can reflect in the hire cost. He has more than 14 Entours I think, plus half a dozen of each 700 (IIRC). But last I heard, he was looking to get rid of the 700s as they don't go out much and get more 250s as they are almost always out. His kit is top quality and he looks after his customers quite well. Thanks.
stevefez Posted October 29, 2010 Posted October 29, 2010 Just to add I've used LightTheWay a bit and have always had top quality service. Kit's well looked after, and support is good too.
jonic222 Posted October 29, 2010 Posted October 29, 2010 +1 for Light the WayI've hired 250 entours from them on a couple of occasions and will start using them for bigger events. The equipment is really good quality (most of it is pretty much new) and the guy that runs it is really nice I'll also add that they do more than what's listed on their website (and all for really low prices!)

I wonder how many units they actually have availiable at that kinda price :P I've used Light The Way before and without exception the kit is in perfect condition and well maintained, the guy that runs it is excellent to deal with too. They have a decent number of units and often sub-hire to other, very well known and much larger, hire companies. The price of the kit doesn't reflect a reduction in quality or service.

I'm in the Theatre industry and they have done me a favour by hiring at a good price. what is there to argue about
StevieR Posted October 31, 2010 Posted October 31, 2010 Hmmm. Just looked at their website and I have to agree with others that their prices are WELL below current market rates. Certainly great if you are a customer but it does ring warning bells from a business perspective. They may claim to have low overheads but they will still have them. Lighting kit costs money to run - lamps, maintenance, pat testing and general check-in/check-out time, not to mention the original purchase costs. Even if they are just a one-man band it doesn't quite add up. There was a similar company up by us who continuously undercut everyone else. They went bust - big time. Not saying that this company is similar but a company's rental prices are normally keyed to getting in enough money to cover costs and make a sensible profit. These guys appear to be well off target.
