TomWeston
Hi Guys, I have recently been working on my website / online portfolio. I would be very grateful if people could take a look and report back on their opinions and likes / dislikes. Please could people break their comments down into 3 sections. 1 design and layout 2 content 3 like or dislike Thanks in advance, Tom The Website is www.tom-haldane.co.uk
mrcog
1. Really like the design of the website, simple and easy to get around. It's a very nice looking website and is much more asthetically pleasing than many others. 2. Content seems to be reasonable, however after March 2010 for your credits, you job titles have been knocked down a line which means they arn't lining up correctally. Also, your links for all your documentation seem to be dodgy... 3. In general I really like the website, it's much nicer than the stuff I've managed to create with iWeb (I assume it was an iWeb Website?) J

TonyMitchell
Looks a clear, clean and tidy site, Tom Just a couple of things: On the home page, I get: "Not FoundThe requested URL /Welcome_files/widget3_markup.html was not found on this server.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------Apache/2 Server at www.tom-haldane.co.uk Port 80" and on the Contact page, the "APSE.M4V" text appears on top of "MISS TOP MODEL - BUILD TIME"
Malcolm Gordon
Found the same problems mentioned above. You might want to amend "Pervious Work" in your Portfolio!

rossmck
All the downloads links on the Contact page seem to be broken links ? Also I presume you're actually a member of Plasa (couldn't find you in the Member Directory) and ABTT, if not I wouldn't use those logos ;)
Ynot
All the downloads links on the Contact page seem to be broken links ? Also I presume you're actually a member of Plasa (couldn't find you in the Member Directory) and ABTT, if not I wouldn't use those logos :)That was one of my observations also. It's normal, if linking to sites in such a way on a front page, to be properly associated with the companies listed - if you're not, you could be deemed to be misrepresenting yourself. Listing them on a 'Links' page is probably a better option, but I suspect that's not necessarily the point.
TomG
All the downloads links on the Contact page seem to be broken links ? Also I presume you're actually a member of Plasa (couldn't find you in the Member Directory) and ABTT, if not I wouldn't use those logos :) The links are broken due to the spaces, in the file names. if you check the file names and replace the spaces with _ and do the same in the links this will then solve that problem. Linux and HTML do not like space's, for some reason.
Big Jay
Surly you can't expect everyone to know that? I would find a work around sharpish!
dunk_1984
1. Looks pretty good and easy to navigate. 2. All your downloads are missing. The Top Model timelapse can however be viewed here. When you consider the company involved. Get out... NOW! 3. Other than your misfortune of apparently working for the above company, site seems alright. JazzAV
Hi Tom, From the perspective of an potential employer on the live events side... I found it a little confusing, on one hand I am looking at a personal website of an 18 year old technician (which is fine), then I click on the viper link and I'm on a website of a company that has loads of kit and 'Staff' which appears to be fronted by you. So are you a potential technician for me to use on a live event or are you a competitor to me, who I shouldn't really put in front of my clients? I know none of this really matters from the theatrical side but as a live event tech, you maybe need to be clearer about what you actually do (are you a tech or a hire company) Aside from that, it would be good to be able to see what you actually can do, types of audio/lighting desks you can use and how well? AV kit, projectors etc. When we are crewing a Job we tend to look for specific skills I.e Pearl op, LX7, Someone to look after a Christie HD projector or Screen pro etc. All of which would probably have to be rigged and programmed in half the time you would really want :D Personally I always think technicians should credit photos, if you put a pic on your website are you claiming the set design? Lighting design? or did you just make the tea? Having said all that, I think 3 pages is brilliant and once you get the links sorted and the other bits people have mentioned it should be a decent site, just keep it fresh and up to date and it should work for you. frazer
Also I would question what your link with the Arts Council is. Most organisation will only display put the ACE logo if they are being funded by them. Frazer
cfmonk
Just a personal comment, I never like the "I'm a fully qualified *****" unless there is a definitive set of qualifications needed to be ****. For intance a chartered accountant or a Class C HGV driver. I know you then go on to explain what qualifications you do have but anybody who knows anything will decide for themselves how qualified your exams make you rather than you deciding for yourself which seems a little arrogant. Maybe that's just me. ChrisFully Qualified 25m Swimmer ;-)
boatman
It's now a week since the first post in this thread and I see that Tom's work is still "PERVIOUS". As themadhippy pointed out, it might be a good idea to change that before the next MISS TOP MODEL contest comes around.
