paulears Posted October 16, 2010 Posted October 16, 2010 A good friend of mine needs to get a voice-over done at a studio close to Lichfield - as the artiste is on a rigid schedule, he can't travel too far. My contacts so far have brought up a few rock-style studios, but we're looking for somewhere suitable for speech. Any recommendations, or even just speculation would be useful as time is running out. ThanksPaul
kerry davies Posted October 16, 2010 Posted October 16, 2010 Tried local radio or even hospital radio groups? http://www.lichfielddc.gov.uk/site/scripts...?documentID=556http://www.hrstafford.org.uk/ Plenty of places in Cov and Brum.
dunk_1984 Posted October 16, 2010 Posted October 16, 2010 Arch Recordings in Burton. 12 miles - http://www.archrecordings.co.uk Call Steve. Or the Lichfield Garrick, has recording facilities I believe. http://www.blue-room.org.uk/index.php?showuser=6866
paulears Posted October 16, 2010 Author Posted October 16, 2010 I've had a look at these links, thanks - I can't yet find somewhere that specialises in spoken word, these places tend to be more suited to music recording and we're looking for something along these line - the radio idea may well pan out, cheers!
dbuckley Posted October 17, 2010 Posted October 17, 2010 ... as the artiste is on a rigid scheduleLateral suggestion - can he change artiste? For voiceovers I use voice123.com, and the artistes on there do what you want and send you the result as a file, severe reduction in hassle. They have their own adequately equipped studios. Many also have ISDN or internet so you can direct in real time, but I've not tried that. Many voices are surprising economical, I've had good voiceovers done for non-profit theatre for $20.

Paul, it depends exactly on what you need to achieve, but we a have small sound-proof(ish) room in which we have a computer, mackie 16-channel mixer, an m-audio delta 1010 and adobe audition. Unfortunately I'm off for a few weeks, so I can't personally help, but contact the TM (address on website- www.lichfieldgarrick.com) and she can put you in contact with our sound chappy! Tell her Ian said to ring! Ian
