andymcwonder
Firstly may I apoligise for my lack of technical expertise.... I am trying to find a (preferably free) suitable software program which is capable of outputting MIDI commands to a ZERO88 LIGHTMASTER XLS desk. This desk has a MIDI input, which I have used in conjuction with Cubase, and have successfully operated the lights via the standard MIDI keyboard which comes with Cubase. However, I would like to find a program which allows specific programming of cues and sequences, so on hitting the spacebar, the sequence loads up the next cue, and changes the corresponding lights. One program that I have found is called DLight (French I think), which has the exact software interface I am looking for, yet for the life of me I cannot get anything to come out of the MIDI port.(running a MIDI analyser shows that DLight is not transmitting MIDI) I have tried converting/patching DMX signal outputs to MIDI signal, with no success, and have also downloaded a whole host of other programs, and tried mapping faders and protocol, again with no success. Is there anyone out there who knows of a simple program that outputs MIDI Note On/Off commands, allows sequences/cues to be programmed and ran, and is free? Can anyone help me with obtaining a MIDI output from Dlight? If so I would VERY much like to hear from you. Much thanks Andy
Dj Dunc
This should do exactly what you need. http://www.audiovisualdevices.com.au/softw...midibuttons.php for single instance stuff OR http://www.audiovisualdevices.com.au/softw...y/multiplay.php for more advanced stuff. The creator is on the blue room and the applications are widely used by members here.
kitlane
You might be looking for a "Show Control" system. There are many to choose from and most of them are more complex than you need but its worth looking around
JohnJarvis
Hi, Can recommend Multiplay very simple and easy to use for audio. Perhaps going off at a tangent but can anyone suggest a similar sort of program with hot keys etc to output a string of DMX commands for lighting. This would be for Amdram use. Most of the software I have come across is vastly too complicated for our needs. If we could have say 8 to 10 ouputs coupled with a fade time tied to one hot key that would be ideal. Very similar to Multiplay in most respects. Any suggestions?
boswell
SCS does DMX but it is not free, cheap tho'
dbuckley
Perhaps going off at a tangent but can anyone suggest a similar sort of program with hot keys etc to output a string of DMX commands for lighting. You can make PCStage do that. You can even put MIDI as well as DMX or even sound playback on a key should one desire.

Download it and have a look: http://tracelighting.com/downloads/ (note that at this time vista and windows 7 users need to right click the desktop short-cut and choose run as administrator - this is to be fixed in the next release)

DMX Control will do what you want with a simple execute screen once set up. I used it for controlling a series of LED Pars for house lighting, and it was very simple to do (although beware many of the instructions are in german). It's also free Firstly may I apoligise for my lack of technical expertise....I am trying to find a (preferably free) suitable software program which is capable of outputting MIDI commands to a ZERO88 LIGHTMASTER XLS desk. GridGirl
SCS does DMX but it is not free, cheap tho' I'm fairly sure (having been searching through the HELP index this afternoon looking for something else!) that SCS will only receive DMX, not send it. It may output MIDI commands though, not sure on that!

Mr_P
Although designed as a Media Server, Catalyst has show control functionality built in. This was developed from SAMSC software about 10 years ago. SAMSC is no longer available seperately - but the basic version of catalyst could do exactly what you've described. Catalyst has cuelists built in that can be configured to respond to external triggers such as MIDI / DMX / RS232 / etc. It can also output the same...Check out:http://homepage.mac.com/simonpugsley/.Publ...0_m257UB_HD.zipits free to download - but you will need a licence to save Let me know if you need some help Simon
