348montesa Posted October 12, 2010 Posted October 12, 2010 Hi all, we normally do sound installations but we now have a club were the patrons wanted one same company to do both sound and lighting. We are isnalling a nexo sistem and the lights should be on par with it. We have two floors: one floor about 14m x 7m , with an access in the middle splitting up the space in roughly two 5.5 x 7 dancefloors on both sides. The first floor is 7.5 x 7m. We have thought of using Robe Clubscan 250 CT scanners on each corner and 4 Clubspots 250 , 2 on the first floor and two on the second floor. The first floor will have a higher spl system and is considered the main dancefloorC We have also considered stepping up to the Robe Scan 575 XT for one end of the club and a coplpe of strobes. I would very much appreciate if anyone can comment on this setup. Thanks, Sebastian
KevinE Posted October 12, 2010 Posted October 12, 2010 Bear in mind that if you're in Colombia, some popular brands of nightclub lighting available in the UK may not be recognised over there, and vice versa! This is particulalry true of 'disco' class equipment. Pro theatre stuff is usually more 'global'.
kerry davies Posted October 12, 2010 Posted October 12, 2010 Fascinating education on BR. Colombia apparently has 120V and 240V supplies and has a Codigo code based on US electrical standards. That would suggest that US webites and fora would be a better place to get specific advice, Sebastian. Maybe Bryson could suggest some sources.
348montesa Posted October 12, 2010 Author Posted October 12, 2010 Thanks, we are sticking with robe for the scanners, but I am relly more interested on the type and amount of lights. Colombia has 120V, but we have 240V on the nightclub. Sebastian
Jamtastic3 Posted October 12, 2010 Posted October 12, 2010 If you're up for buying 575w fixtures, then I'd put them in your biggest main dancefloor together with the 4 heads and maybe a couple of 1500w/Atomic strobes. On the smaller dancefloor, I'd have just the 250 CT scans lighting the room. Have you considered barrel type discharge fixtures? They give alot of throw for rooms that require less single mover beam effects and more shape and colour coverage.
348montesa Posted October 13, 2010 Author Posted October 13, 2010 Jamtastic3, we are intending a similar configuration. There is a balcony from the second floor towards the first floor (main dancefloor 7.5 x x7) on a (short) side of the disco. The lights at that end can cover both floors. We will use two 575 scanners L/R on that end of the room, with a clubscan 250 in the middle. Two spot 250 and 1 scan 250 for the rest of the upper floor. For the main (lower) floor two spot 250 and 4 scan 250, plus a few strobes on several places. Thanks for the advice on the barrel type lights. I am looking at the MArtin EFX500. Thanks for your help. Jamtastic3 Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 Just remember that in most cases, symmetry is the key. You should pair 250ct scans together, as with the moving heads and barrel type effects. Putting a 250CT scan in between 2 575XT scans will just look particularly odd in my opinion and the 575XT's will make the 250CT scan look fairly dull in terms of light output.
Jivemaster Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 If it's a salsa dance club then please avoid the strobes. It's really cool to DISCO dance to strobing, but extremely hard to couple dance, and I did once see some people get hurt because of this.
