hi everyone I relatively new to this but here goes...ive got a dynacord 100 mark 2 and a nice person in the pub on the gig decided to spill vk blue in it. It carried on working for an hour then I switched off and my spare one arrived (only a mark one). I gave it to a friend who cleared it all out using the switch spray stuff. It worked for a full gig and then came to use it a second time and all lights were lite up on pfl and also some crackles coming from it but continued to work so switched off. I am now needing a shop or delaers that repair dynacord mixers who are reliable and actually know what theyre talking about without being ripped off. Does anyone know of any such shop heaven?

please help or if you are an expert yourselves could you send me your details and you could have a look at it.

many thanks andrew

Andrew,

Sugar/alcohol mix needs washing out but probably not with switch cleaner. The baords need to be thoroughly dried before reassembly.

There are a numer of members here who fix things... KevinE and Mixermend spring to mind, but one is closer to you than the other!

I can also suggest others in Derby who are good at fixing dead, sticky mixers...

Do you really mean a Dynacord 100? That is a very vintage (1970's??) mono mixer.

I'm guessing you mean maybe a Powermate 1000Mk2, that is a modern powered mixing desk (with built-in amplifier) suitable for stage, PA and cabaret/disco use and in a rugged metal lidded enclosure.

The design of the powermates is such that they do go fizz pop in a big way if damp, the low and high voltage sections share a single board with subminiature components that get caught in the crossfire. If allowed to fester, the pcb itself can scorch and carbonise beyond repair.

I'd be pleased to take a look down here (midlands) if you can't find anyone more local to Cumbria! A courier will only be around a tenner on a 48 hr.
