TomHoward
We use CLD Distribution, don't think I've found lower than there. Need to register to see prices.
Jivemaster
As the reason why we specify "Neutrik" is that they are good, and there are immitation neutrik connectors available which may not be so good, this is one item where I pay the money and get the real deal! I'd look for a deal from a decent supplier in your area, or speak directly with your RS or CPC rep. Actually the LAST thing you want is a DMX or mic line going US during a show, so decent connectors are worth the money.
Simon Lewis
I'm sure you're aware that the best prices are usually available to those who are "in the trade" and who sell the most. Of course, one of the major problems for the entertainment business is that everyone from the bedroom DJ to the major distributors are "in the trade" - in a way perhaps not seen in almost any other industry.Want trade prices on a gas boiler? 'Show your Gas Safe registration card and make a trade application mate...' - you don't tend to get a "hobby" gas fitter who does a bit of weekend servicing for fun! Of course, there are public facing sellers with good prices, and those offering trade accounts. Some give low prices by virtue of the volume you buy, others by virtue of your trading status (or both!). I suspect there is an element of wanting to protect one's trades sources and best prices, as those who have earned really good prices and hard to obtain trade accounts through hard work, good relationships and solid sales will value being able to source gear cheaper than the hobbyist! Having said that, I'm happy to pass on some of my trade sources via PM... Simon Lewis
Brian
Have you tried Neutrik?Yes. If costs to much to start off an account with them. Ah, right, sorry, I assumed you were talking about buying sensible quantities. In that case you'll need to speak to one of their authorised distributors. TonyMitchell
I've found Electrovision's trade prices on Neutrik connectors to be quite keen. To apply for a Trade account with them you'll need to prove you've got a business rather than a hobby, a copy of your VAT Registration certificate usually satisfies most of the UK trade distributors in this respect, along with a couple of references from existing suppliers if you're looking for a credit account. Hope this helps Tony

We are after a sensible quantity - I think we will have to shop around get quote here and there. It a case of being competitive in the long run. It a case of being competitive in the long run. Out of interest, what's a "sensible quantity" in your context? Taking Simon's very valid point about everyone being (or "thinking") they are "in the trade", a sensible quantity to a bedroom dj will probably be very different to a sensible quantity for a PA hire co, which in turn will be very different to a sensible quantity for a distributor. Which (if any) of the above categories closest fits your activities?

Which (if any) of the above categories closest fits your activities? We usually stock at least 1000 of each connector minimum of the most common connectors! Yes valid point about being in the trade, it does cover a rather a vast array of professions that will be classed as 'in the trade' - I see your point. The distributors do give fairly good prices. It's staying competitive for us - that's the problem.
TonyMitchell
We usually stock at least 1000 of each connector minimum of the most common connectors! In that case, I'd guess whomever you approached at Neutrik didn't appreciate the size of your business. If we look at just the four most common connectors (NC3FX, NC3MX, NP2C, NP3C) and assume that your average stockholding is three weeks (I can't see why it would be any more on common product with a 24-48hr lead time... and ideally would be closer to 7-10 days), then your turnover with Neutrik would exceed £100k per annum. Of course, it may be as a relatively young company incorporated less than 18 months and having not yet filed a set of first year accounts, being registered to a semi detached residential property with just a mobile for contact on your website, they may have dismissed you as a bedroom drop shipment operator (of which there are many). I'm sure if you go back to Neutrik and given them a PO for a nice five figure sum for your first order, payable in advance, that they will quickly understand you're a serious big player and warm to you by offering fantastic trade prices, brilliant credit terms and some corporate hospitality from time to time. :)
