Unfathomable
Can anyone point me in the directions of a set of these? I have found these. But surely they should be available cheaper somewhere? If there is anyone who might know I would be very grateful. I have a friend metalworker if anyone can give me dimensions although that would cost a bit so preferably buying would be better. Paul TC
If you are going down the make your own route. Page 26 of the manual. available on Soundcraft site gives the fitting procedure and some dimensions, I assume a little work with a tape measure should produce the missing dimensions. Ahh yeah, I missed that when I flicked through. Thanks. Really looking for the proper ones, but making them as a last resort.
ajh51
I have an SX and I, like you couldn't find the rack ears at anything like a sensible price. Especially as I bought mine 2nd hand - which I guess you will also have done as they don't make them anymore! Making suitable ears is pretty easy, you just need a suitable length of angle iron cut to length and drill 4 holes in each! I don't remember for sure but I think you need offset angle where one leg is longer than the other. The long leg goes on the side of the mixer and the short leg makes the actual ears. As mentioned it is a two minute job to take the measurements. good luck.Andy.
Unfathomable
making them is looking like the best option, but they need to be good since the gear will be used by others. I did get the desk second hand, although its been used for one gig, so its in good condition! For anyone looking at this in the future, Soundcraft supply these for £36 (not including VAT) with £10 postage. 10 out of 10 also has some on their website, They are going to get back to me with a quote. MarkPAman
There's one or two desks around here that have the "wrong" rack ears on them, i.e. ones I'd kept from desks that came with them supplied but not needed.A few new holes, & once mounted in a rack, you'd never know the difference. So it may be worth seeing if you can find something from a similar sized desk for a better price.
Unfathomable
To update for people searching this: Just spent an afternoon with a friend in his workshop and come out with a shiny (painting tomorrow) set of Aluminium rack ears. Easy to make with the right kit! 10outof10 productions quoted the same as soundcraft but personally for the price making them is easier.
