tom_robbo
Evening Everyone! This is just a random question on the west end show of We Will Rock you which I went to see last week. There is a part towards the end of the show where they are singing the well known tune "We will rock you" and the guitar is unveiled buried in the wall. It can be seen HERE at 38 seconds into the video. I was just wondering if anyone knew how they manage to create the wall falling down effect? Is it compressed air pushing the bricks out of place? Some wire pulling to remove the bottom two rocks so the rest gives way? It just got me thinking after I saw it and wondered if anyone here actually knew the truth behind it? Thanks in advance. tom_robbo
Ahh so I hit that link in wrong. Try this one, 38 seconds into the video. It's very brief but you get the idea. Hopefully that will work this time! ;) Thanks
Piers Shepperd
Hi there,I think it was just 5 or 6 linear actuators with small discs attached to the front that just pushed out thick blocks. It was originally made by Souvenir Studios, London. I dug out some pictures from 2003 showing it being reset. I don't know if this is how it continues to be done today; http://www.stagelink.com/images/logos/Wembley_Reveal_1.jpghttp://www.stagelink.com/images/logos/Wembley_Reveal_Empty.jpg
elvenprince
If I recall correctly; it's simply some stagehands with broom handles that push the blocks out from behind!
the kid
It is big sticks and stage hands.
