qewrty Posted September 22, 2010 Posted September 22, 2010 Hi everyone. I haven't got a a technical question but I need different suggestions. I need some sort of blinders like Jarags, something tungsten. Dont really want to use ordinary molefay blinders as thats quite boring nowdays  So was just wondering if anybody has any suggestions what I should get for, an eye candy wow factor, preferably tungsten. Budget isnt a big issue. Let me know any suggestions. Thanks
niclights Posted September 22, 2010 Posted September 22, 2010 The other obvious contender is the Sunstrip active (10 cell batten individual control).
AndyJones Posted September 22, 2010 Posted September 22, 2010 There is a new version on the sunstrip, which looks interesting. Each cell is flexible so you can get some interesting shapes. It's too late now for me to look and find out what it is- Maybe in the morning though! Andy Jones

I had a look online but couldn't find anything similar that you are talking about. If you could send me a link for them that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
LXbydesign Posted September 23, 2010 Posted September 23, 2010 Id second the sunstrip - whichever version. They are great fixtures, look brilliant rigged in random strips or a long line or a grid - whatever. Watch the loading though if you are dasiy chaining them on the connectors and plugging into 13amp.
lxdad Posted September 23, 2010 Posted September 23, 2010 How about some nice BIG lights?Have a look at the rest of the site if you want interesting blinders, but prepare to have your wallet emptied. LXDad

True, but if they were within a few meters they may also shortly be on fire, and therefore not around long to complain... I like the fact that under mounting options they suggest 'on a crane' In the Scorcese film 'Shine a Light' (rolling stones flick) there is a line where they are discussing the lighting for the show and scorcese's rig calls for so many lights they are worried about hurting the band! I believe the quote was "Whatever we do, we can't burn Mick Jagger!"

I think Andy may have been referring to the Cobrastrip. It does look rather interesting, doesn't it?
son of lx dad Posted September 23, 2010 Posted September 23, 2010 Studio Due (IIRC) CS4. A bugger to program but don't really look like anything else around. Panalux own a couple of 20K Mole Beams. The only light I've ever toured with that I enjoyed getting out of the box every day. R&V Beam lights look good in shot, or if you fancy "steeling" an Al Gurdon idea, the inside of a Spacelight hung vertically can look good in greater numbers.

Since this thread is rapidly going downhill and before the mods step in to close it down, I'll plump for the refurbished WWII Dominator.

As with a host of other fixtures, you can be subtle or you can use them for high impact. With a bit of programming, some of the moves you can do look very nice indeed.
