jboy1977
Dear All In a reversal of fortune after my last post here I find myself needing a showfile translated from .SPF (Strand Classic Palette ii 10.6.6) to .SSF (Strand 500/300 series format). The purpose of this is so I can print a PDF of the Q printout. If anyone has a Palette and can do the translation and/or print a TXT file to PDF that shows ONLY the CHANNELS USED in each Q I'd really appreciate it. Thanks in advance for your help. Cheers. J Pearce
I'm not sure you can backtranslate, but the Palette does support printing of cues. Does the palette's printed format not suit?
richard
Can you not convert spf to ascii, then use showport to import it?
J Pearce
Yes you could. The desk will save to ascii, as will the offline editor, available freely from Strand. In fact the OLE will probably do the printing too, it does pretty much everything except output DMX (and it can do that now too apparently, using the varilite USB-DMX box). Palette has also just had a fairly major software upgrade (to 10.8.1) so its worth trying again as I know printing is one of the things they did some work on. jboy1977
Hi Thanks for your help. The issue is that I no longer have access to the desk and I am Mac-based so no OLE/Showport. Thankfully the lovely Patrick from Strand has come to the rescue again and managed to extract all the useful information. Thanks for your advice. x
phenry
Thankfully the lovely Patrick from Strand has come to the rescue again and managed to extract all the useful information. Printing is much improved in 10.8.1. the ole could allways and will still do everything the palette software would. Not outputing DMX was only due to a lack of hardware. If you take the palette tiles and plug them into the usb port of your computer with the ole, they will work and output DMX. It enables you to use a computer as a processor if you have an emergency and need to run a show. Of course you are still required to have the usb channel key installed as well. (The varilite usb DMX cable is rather convenient though)
