Duncarnold
I have found a couple of bits of old gear and can't find any info on them on the tinterweb. One of these bits is an old lighting board: Lee Northern Magic, Merlin 20 channel.Does anyone know whether this is worth trying to flog, or is it destined for scrap? And let me know if anyone here wants it!Also got a 50W PA amp by Eagle International, model no PA539N. No ideas whatsoever, so same questions apply for that.. Thanks! Richard Bunting
I don't recognise the name of the lighting desk, but could have belonged to Lee Lighting North in Bolton, or have been manufactured by Lee Colortran. Is these anychance of a photo?I expect that Jason Williams of NEET would be interested if you are just throwing it out. Eagle was a semi-pro brand around in the 70's & 80's, who have now been absorbed by other manufacturers, so I don't think they exist. I don't think there is any monetary value in this amp either, but if it works, then they may be a voluntary organisation that would appreciate it. Jason is now working for Brahler UK [jason.williams@brahler.co.uk], so you contact him initially through them.
Robin D
Eagle International was an electronics brand selling imported gear from Hong Kong, then more generally the far East. They were certainly around in the the late 1950's and sold everything from crystal microphones, through transistor radio's, electronics kits and 'HiFi' kit plus a lot of test kit. I still have an Eagle signal injector somewhere. :) They were based in the Harrow/Wembley area in the 60's and became part of the the Audiotronic Group (that also included Lasky's and I think they had a hand in the early mail order Comet operation). They disappeared from the market in the mid to late 70's I think. The amps were solidly built but were not really audiophile stuff. A sort of cheap Rotel if you remember those and probably equivalent to the the Amstrad's of the period. Not sure about the PA side though. From memory their logo was the word Eagle in red. dbuckley
Eagle PA amps were almost ubiquitous in shops and petrol stations for years. I had a 40W amp that would work off mains or battery, which some scally nicked from the van in my drive...
