sheldon
Hi, I've been offered some used hoists, and would like to check if they can be converted. One batch are non-inverted hoists (i.e. hoist on top, chain below), can these be converted for inverted use (chain on top, hoist climbs the chain)Another batch has separate power & control (blue & yellow CEE forms), can these be converted to direct control (4-pin red CEE form) ? Just checking on the possibility as I can't seem to find this info online. Thanks. Sheldon
AndyJones
Are all the hoists CM lodestars? If so they can be used both ways up. Main thing to check is that you have the correct chain bag, and that it is installed correctly for the way the motor is running- You don't want the chain spilling out! If the second hoist has a BLUE cee form, then this means it is a single phase hoist, and as such can only be run off of a single phase supply. It cannot be converted to the red cee form as this is reserved for three phases hoists. Don't discount the single phases hoists though, if they are of small size, it can actually be handy to have single phases hoists, in venues with limited power, They can be very useful in small venues. I have found them to be noisy, and quite jerky, so I prefer to use them to for fairly low venues. HTH AndyJones
