soundspider
Hi, I have a pair of HK Audio Premium Pro 12's which I've used for about 2 and 1/2 years. They got used for a pretty loud DJ gig a while ago and since then one of them sounds awful - sounds like it has lost a lot of the high-mid clarity that the other still has and is significantly quieter than the other too. I thought that maybe the HF driver had blown or done something odd, so I swapped the HF drivers of the two speakers round, but the odd thing is the good one still sounds good and the bad one still bad, so I've concluded its not that! The 2 LF drivers sound exactly the same with the HF's disconnected, so I'm guessing its not that either. So all I can think is a problem with the internal crossover? If anyone has any suggestions if this is right and how to fix it, it'd be much appreciated. Cheers, Alan
Brian
Do they have any protection circuits on the HF? Sometimes there is a small lamp in series with the HF driver. They're aren't meant to blow but often do. [EDIT]The data sheet says they have a 'Dyn. Protection Circuit' which usually means a small filament lamp. Have a look on the crossover board. Looks like that is exactly what the problem is - one bulb blown, other is fine. Any idea where to get replacements? Have tried JHS service department on a few occasions and can get nowhere fast I'm afraid. Should be a fairly simple fix if I can get the bulb. Thanks very much, Alan

Service manual says 24v 18W 15/41 I think the 15/41 is the dia and length of the (festoon) lamp HTHDave
