wycome5
We are currently programming a tour for a tv comic and need a venue in the midlands on March 25th 2011. We are in Liverpool on the 24th and Brighton on the 26th and I just need a stop over. If you are part of a venue or know a venue that may be interested, please let me know. Cheers! richb
Given the scale you mentioned, I'd suggest that you'd be better off looking at at venues like MAC in Birmingham, or if larger Theatre Royal in Northampton...but better still investing in a British Theatre Directory for whoever is responsible for booking your tours so that look at every venue in the country (including bare technical details and audience capacitues etc) rather than rely on the slightly more random forum approach! Bobbsy
I know the LEIGHTON BUZZARD THEATRE (170 seats) and the COURT THEATRE, PENDLEY nr. Tring (about 200 seats) both feature comedians fairly often. Obviously, down here in Aus I can't comment on prior bookings but either is worth contacting. wycome5
rather than rely on the slightly more random forum approach! HTH Thanks for your help everyone! We normally don't have a problem finding venues because of the names we work with but I just couldn't find a venue to fit this one date. Also we needed to turn it around with a confirmed booking today so it helps to have a name to mention when calling etc!
richb
No, makes sense, but if you can stomach the initial cost of forking out for the BTD, is does prove to be worth it's weight in gold over the years!

Ynot
We stopped taking in touring shows because we didn't have much luck selling the bums on seats - being predominantly an amateur house we do very well with the majority of the local talent. The problem with us is marketing out of towners. The theatre itself has a mailing list, but little else in the way of promotional options, and we seldom need much because as I say, the norm sell to their own catchment area. And despite always getting told "Oh, our promotions team will deal with all advertising local and regional" it never really seemed to happen. We just about broke even with Kiki Dee a few years back and lost a shade on Maddy prior, both of whom were apparently doing well elsewhere. However, unfortunately we couldn't accomodate on the 25th as we already have a prior booking.
