MatSpencer
Hello, What would be the easiest and most cost effective way of Pixel Mapping onto my Pixel Line from my Pearl Expert running the latest Titan Software? I don't really know at this moment if it's even possible. Or if I would have a need for it. But, Once I learn how to pixel map one thing, I'm hoping I will be able to Pixel Map other fixtures. dunk
Hey Mat, After speaking to the chaps from Avo at Plasa yesterday, Version 5 of Titan is due out after Frankfurt next year (April/May-ish). V5 of Titan has been developed with Pixel Mapping as a key feature, (apparently - I'm just the messenger!). I had the same predicament as yourself, I owned a Pearl Expert as well as loads of LED battens. I wanted to get involved with some pixel mapping, so I went and bought a Hippotizer, which works brilliantly but I know it cost me the same as a deposit on a house! (Sledgehammer to crack a nut, I know, but that's a different story!) After all that, I ended up downloading the Chamsys MagicQ software, (which is FREE and natively drives 18 universes of Artnet, free of charge! Chamsys does pixel mapping beautifully, not to mention live video capture to output over your grid of pixels. I suggest you try it! Manuel1975
Hm, I think you need a Chamsys hardware product to "unlock" the artnet features of the Chamsys MagicQ software right? I own the entry level programmer wing called the mini wing and fel in love with Chamsys MagicQ. Its very cost effective and the software is very intelligent. For the rest I agree with Dunk. Low res pixelmapping is best done from within a lighting desk. Chamsys and Grand MA have beatifull Pixelmap engines. Also you could look at Madrix which is a very cost effective solution for driving low res displays. Kind regards, Manuel
Wol
Hm, I think you need a Chamsys hardware product to "unlock" the artnet features of the Chamsys MagicQ software right? Nope! For free, MagicQ gives you 18 universes of artnet (about 60 by 50 LED pixels - 3000 fixtures), with all the functionality of the Pixel Mapping engine which also integrates into our media control window as well, without needing to pay us a penny. As dunc says, you can capture video from a computer screen using our Media Centre software, which gets streamed live over a network to MagicQ to be output onto a grid. You can also convert movies into a low res format to work with LEd grids, and if you use something like After Effects to generate graphics, I've written a plugin to export directly to the movie format we use. And you also don't have to wait over half a year to get this functionality, as MagicQ has had over 2 years of in the field use of the pixelmapping engine already
