LondonAVArtist
Hi all, newcomer here, I'm currently in the production stages of organising a fashion event where we will necessitate 2 large (preferably High Def.) projectors. I've mainly been looking at 5000lumen Sanyo's but have been offered the use of a pair of Barco CLM HD8's (8000lumen) for £3500 for the week. Apparently this is without a lens aswell. Does this sound like a worthwhile option or am I better off chasing up the Sanyo's? Many thanks, Dean

LondonAVArtist
Thanks for the quick response Jason. In regards to the projectors themselves are they, at that price (or thereabouts) what I'm looking for? The final output quality has got to be its best, I'm not usually the one who deals with sourcing such equipment but it has fallen to me to do so, and I don't really want to get it wrong when paying this much. Pete McCrea
The list for the CLM HD8 round here is £1050-£1250/day ex VAT on a three day week. So £3500 for a pair for a week is what I'd class as a good deal - about 50% off list. It's an 8000 lumen single chip DLP with a native resolution of 1920x1080, so make sure that your comparing Apples with Apples when you get your figures. We've used a pair to fill a 25'x10' screen for a conference on several occasions, and they give a great bright result that the LD likes because they can light the show without too much fear of washing the screen out. The HD8 will piddle over a 5K XGA Resolution LCD Sanyo. Yes it is more expensive, and I'm sure people will be able to offer you a cheaper deal for a pair of lower spec machines, but I doubt that based on £/pixel/lumen you'll struggle to get a better deal. What is your actual usage, i.e. what are you doing with the units? What is your input resolution, because if the content is rendered at XGA, then there might not be much point using a full HD machine. Depending on the dates you need them I'd also be interested in offering you a quote, and would be happy to do something with the Lenses, as we have a bit of availability on the units that we've got. We also have the 10,000 lumen SXGA CLM R10+ in stock as an alternative. We can also offer matched pairs if you need to get the images matched. jason5d
we've got some hd8's and some Panasonic dmd 5k's available and some panny 10k's all are great but itdepends on screen size and how much light is in the room. It sounds like a decent budget event.I suspect the lighting will be bright, the last fashion show we did was with our 15K sanyo projectorson 2 16ft wide screen screens there were a good 30 500w moving heads above the stage. is this for live cameras? (we do that too) but dmd is the way to go is budget is no objecthowever correct brightness is more important, no point being hd if it's not bright enough for the audience. so what's your screen size?
