BleedingEdgeProductions
Hi guys, Is it possible to use a composite video distributor (http://www.cybermarket.co.uk/ishop/923/shopscr6385.html for example), as a Wordclock distributor for digital audio equipment? The distro in the link is 75 ohm. Many thanks, Martin
skennedy
Whilst I'm sure this distribution amp would work, I am very sure that it's not a very good solution. The most desirable feature of word clock is that all the clock signals are synchronized with zero phase offset I.e skew. This device is designed to amplify and distribute an analog video signal so matching track lengths (phase difference between outputs) and ensuring no DC offset is introduced is not going to be a concern. The other problem is that composite video signals are going to be more tolerant to incorrectly terminated lines meaning that refections and distortion may be introduced. I'm not really sure what you should use instead. Simon Kennedy

dbuckley
The otehr thing that occurs is that I've no idea what a word clock waveform looks like, but its most unlikely to be the +700mV, -300mV that CV is.
