The Techinator
I was recently using an ETC Expession 3 on a production. I had finished plotting over 150 cues, when I went into systems setting to increase the number of channels I had from 400 to 500. By mistake I entered in 50 channels before correcting it. However by doing this I not only unpatched ever dimmer from 50 upwards, it also wiped out all my channels from 50 up on my cues and my submasters! Nightmare, show ruined. Does anyone know if this is a feature of the desk, our is my desk playing up? Surely the settings on the desk shouldn't affect anything on the programming side?! Dmills
It sounds like behaviour that I would more or less have expected. The change to the number of channels will have caused various internal data structures to be resized thus erasing the data relating to the no longer allocated channels. I don't know if it is normal or not, but I would expect that it is. Regards, Dan.
TheLightsTech
Really good reason to back up and back up and back up again, and certainly before settings changes.
JDLX
Unfortunately that is normal behaviour for the expression series of desks. It's one of those things you will never do twice though!
Stu
Yep, what you described is exactly what'll happen if you accidentally do that on an Expression 3, as I did once and once only. As much as it's a pain with that desk, it's worth having a few floppy disks in rotation when saving so you are never too far behind!
