Drum skins help

Hi. posting this to get info for my son. he is about to renew his tom heads. The kit is a DW. All styles of music played mostly pop/rock. We mic up about 50% of the time so need heads to be bright enough for acoustic nights. 4 toms 10,12,14,16. He had evans heads last time and he fancies trying out others. REmo emperor coated seam popular, any thoughs out there.

I'd say Evans G2 or possibly Aquarian. Best place to try would be the Mike Dolbear Drum Forum - do a google search. Some very knowledgable, and lovely, people on there - I'm on there too.

Has he tried EC2 on toms? Easy to tune and lasts long. I have been using them for a while now. However, tuned correctly any decent drum head will do the trick. It's all about the tuning really. I have seen drummers with pricey kits and decent heads but the whole kit sounded like hitting cardboards...

Yes I agree totally. he has gone with DW ones. They are made by remo and the origanal ones when he bought the kit sounded ok, Thanx for all of you suggestions.
