Oldskool!
Hi, About to venture into Midi Triggering On an Avo D4, was wondering if anyone has had any first hand experience of this. There is not a great deal ofinfo in D4 manual. To experiment is was thinking of converting an mp3 song into a midi sequence, using some software for mac.My question is, would I then literally be able to play the track containing midi notes on my mac and connect to the D4 via a usb to midi cable? Then create a cue and set a note within the cue that relates to a specific note within the song file? Is it as simple as that or is there much more to it? Cheers!

You would normally create a dedicated track in the midi file containing the trigger notes for the D4 - you don't use the actual music notes (not sure if that is what you meant). This requires some sort of sequencer program like Cubase or similar. You then allocate the trigger notes to a cue on the D4 as described in the manual - eg note C3 to trigger cue 1. It's more common to use Cubase (or whatever sequencer) to play back the mp3 file as it is, and just add a midi track underneath the audio to trigger the cues. Oldskool!
Well I've found a program that runs on windows called widi, which will transpose a wav file into midi! You can then select to run the track with the music and midi notes together or as just the midi notes! Would this work do you think?

You create your own additional midi track to trigger the cues on the D4. You don't trigger it off the music notes. Otherwise completely random things will happen as various chords pass by in the music. You need a sequencer to do this.
