TomHoward
Evening All I am looking for some kind of very compact dimmer, that could either have multiple fitted into a small case and be attached to very small lamps, like 12V Pea Bulbs, or 240V 5W Pygmy bulbs, or a single unit with multiple DMX channels - something like a miniature Sunstrip Active, or some individually addressable pea bulbs - this is for a control system demo setup, so that we can have a miniature portable demo rig to demonstrate a focussing product with. Does anybody have any suitable suggestions?
J Pearce
A demux and some transistors set up as amplifiers with a gain of 1.2V sounds like it would do the trick nicely. Shouldn't be too hard to build, and if you built it all into a 1U box you could rack it up with a 1U showtec demux and have it a smart 2U rack bag thing. You could quite probably happily drive 50W birdies off it with a suitable power supply.
niclights
Something like this? 40x35W in 1U.
TomHoward
Thanks for those suggestions, I'm going to look into both of them. I've also found the Osram DMX 3x1 dimmer, which is three-channel PWM dimming for RGB LED use in a small transformer-sized box - I could use two of them to give 6 channels of PWM dimming to some white LEDs, which would be good enough. If I can build this into a suitcase flight case it would be ideal, so the more compact the better.
