Transporting some truss in London.

Hello all,

 

I need to collect tomorrow morning from WC2B 4** to go to WC1H 0**

 

There are 5 sections of up to 4 metres in length.

 

Any recommendations on the best companies to call to get this shifted would be appreciated.

Bit big for the tube ,I would be tempted to get 10 people,2 per truss and walk up kingsway and across russel saqure,its only a mile or 2 so under an hour easy

Might've been a sight to see - specially as I've just had 3 days darn sarf and was in a hotel in Russell Square over the weekend...

I would suggest squeeky wheels but they might be quite expensive for such a short trip. so a quick google gives taxi van. you would need their large van for 4 metre lengths.

 

a friend of mine told me once he'd taken an 8-rung zarges on the tube. might be a bit of an "old fisherman's" tale ...

May have acquired a lift through a friend.

 

Carrying would be interesting, I once had to wheel a rather heavy flightcase the length of Tottenham Court Road and have also carried a ladder for about a mile to a hotel in Russell Square.

 

That taxi van site appears cheaper than the other man and van companies I had found. Will remember it in future.

looking at where you're probably going, carrying it wouldn't be too bad on a thursday at say 11am

Could you not just get a few skates or empty flightcases and roll them along like that!.

 

As menetioned above 11am is a good time in that area. All the office guys SHOULD be in their offices!!!!! - and there not to many tourists wandering around aimlessly :-)
