Hi,

 

I am part of a low budgt school production of Cabaret (I know Cabaret in a school, not my choice) but was wondering if I could borrow or purchase a cheap gobo AND gobo holder that says Cabaret. We are performing March 2011 at Silverdale School in Sheffield.

 

Also I am wanting a swatstikka gobo as well please if anyone has got.

DHA/Rosco have two steel "Cabaret" gobos as stock images so the price will be sensible. The Swastika may be more problematic

do you know what profile lantern or fixture you will be using to project the image.

 

if you can't find either or want to do it cheap. get a piece of metal. (coke can), flatten it out and cut your desired image into it. it maybe rough but it always ready.

Going with what the post above says, you could always use (if your school's D&T Department has one!) a lazer cutter to cut out the image which would look nicer and more professional.

A swastika gobo is not too difficult to cut yourself - I've made a few of them (productions of The Sound of Music....). Gobo holders shouldn't be expensive to hire at all - if you're hiring any other gear the hire company will quite possibly give you one for peanuts. If the worst comes to the worst and you're cutting your own gobo, you can just cut it bigger so it slots into the lamp without needing a gobo holder - I've done that plenty of times in my student days!

Hire a Selecon Pacific profile, get yourself some acetate ( old over head projector transparency) and print your own.

swastika gobos were available ,at the standard price.But not listed in the catalogue. Used em in a production about lonely goat herders in the hills

A quick google returns the stock code DHB77SWAS. for dha b size swastika gobo,maybe give dha/rosco a call

With a little care and some brass shim (RS ) I have made custom gobos by etching like a PCB.

Er, searching on Rosco.com for that code delivers nothing.

And running down the list of alpha gobo names has nothing there for Swastika... :(

Great - but both of those are in the US, meaning the relatively low cost could well increase rather - AND it's needed (for the Producers) in 3 weeks - may well take a while to arrive :(

They dont widely publicise that particular design hence why you wont find it in there catalogue.

I think I got mine from gobo land. But it was unlisted.
