KevinE
Hello, Im looking to extend a covert body-worn bullet camera cable which uses a 4-core (3 core plus screen really) cable. It is terminated in a 2.5mm 4-pole jack plug to go into a solid state recorder, I have a plug and socket so I can make up a mini extension lead. The problem is getting the cable; its only for a 1.5m metre run, so 75R low-noise stuff isn't needed (I doubt what's fitted is, either). The original fixed cable is only 2mm in outer diameter, I dont want much bigger as I won't reliably terminate it in the tiny connectors I've got. Cheers, Kevin
sleah
Does it definately have to be screened? If not, flexible telephone/alarm cable will do the job  You may get away without the screen for a short run, could be worth experimenting.... Robin Pratt
CPC do a screened version of the 4 core alarm cable, CB11431, but its 4mm dia so may be too tight..... Alternatively you could use something like lavalier mic cable from Mogami or similar, but its "tinsel" conductors so will be an absolute **** to solder
dbuckley
Depending on your level of desperateness, buy a low cost CCTV camery from B&Q, and these come with many meters of cable, which I believe will match your specification.

Not so sure, usually `shotgun` cable twin core screened side by side with power. Over any range baluns and Cat5 cheaper. Anway 4pole 2.5mm common phone headphone connector, 2.5mm f-f extension rare but possibly butcher one of the 2.5mm-3.5mm or phone adaptor cable? dbuckley
Not so sure, usually `shotgun` cable twin core screened side by side with power.Having just had a dig in the garage, the "Micromark" brand cameras I have (E2a: these) use a single cable, not a shotgun, and its about the same diameter as four core alarm cable. Shotgun (power and video seperate) cable is more upmarket than I am suggesting, these are cheap cameras.
Jivemaster
What sort of duty does the lead have to withstand? Could you pull some lengths of enamelled copper wire up some heatshrink? Maybe twist one pair for noise rejection. My local shop sells heatshrink in 1.2m lengths. I had some maplin leads that worked well when installing board and bullet cameras they were just 4 core "alarm wire" from scart plug to bare ends. they were supplied at 20metres long and worked fine - no attempt at 75R or screening! Silvie
For a 1.5 metre run, I would use anything.......... BT cable, alarm cable, cat5, bell wire, speak wire.... anything will work, picture quality and voltage will be fine.... Paul.
KevinE
The plugs will not physically accept anything much bigger than 2 or 3mm total outside diameter cable. In the end, I found a duff mini laptop mouse and cut the cable off that, it was just long enough.
