debbie_allen
Hi All. I'm new to the forum and any advice will be greatly appreciated. I am a soloist on the circuit singing at pubs to events up to 500 seater venues and having trouble with my sound. I have as follows. Behringer PMP 3000 Mixer Amp Behringer EP 2000 Amp Peavey UL15 full range passive speakers @ 4ohm Shure SM58 Wireless Mic Sony MD-JE520 player Laptop I used to run Peavey Impulse 200s straight from the mixer amp but now have the UL15s powered up through the slave amp. It sounds fine at low volume but awful at higher levels Please Help Thanks in advance
bruce
Hi Debbie, welcome to the forums. You say it sounds "awful at higher levels" - can you expand on that? I know it's difficult, btu can you decribe how the sound is "wrong". Tell us how the mixer amp is connected to the power amp - which inputs to which outputs etc. Also, it would be worth updating your profile to say where in the country you are - (or even which country) - there's likely to be someone in your area that could have a look in return for a beer or two... debbie_allen
Hi Bruce , thanks for your fast reply, I have ammended my profile to include my location. Distortion and Feedback is the main problem. I have tried reducing the gain on the inputs and tried ringing out the feedback using the equaliser , but at higher volumes the problem is still there. Basically I connect the Mixer Amp using jack leads from the Mains 2 on the desk to the Power Amp. I did try the speakon out from the Mixer Amp to the Power Amp which gave me more power but with the same result.
bruce
definitely DON'T connect the mixer amp speakon outputs to the other amp - it expects a line level input. You should be able to take a signal from the main-1 or main-2 to the mixer. Don't start with the output level on the mixer too high.
