Hi BR

I keep on seeing this word (Tallescope) in threads and I have no clue what it means!

And im assumeing 'Geni' refers to a scissorlift or a cherry picker? (ive got a weriod feeling that ive spelt it wrong)

Thanks Ash

Haha I loved that :P must send that others some time.

Well I did a quick google serch of them before I posted. But what is is it looks to me like an extendable vertical ladder kind of thing that has a base and a small working platform at the top. :)

Ive never seen one of these. And with good reason. The whole first page of links that google throws up are allmost all co.uk sites same with the 2nd page.

Funnily enough... you're pretty much hitting the nail on the head there. Add some outriggers for stability, and the ability to fold down to get through doorways, and you're there.

What were you expecting? Some kind of robot that came along and stretched your legs so you could reach the grid without climbing a ladder?

They're good, aren't they? Had a demo of one a little while ago; only problem was that I couldn't fit back in my car when I wanted to go home.

Surprised you've never seen one of them, they are quite common in Australia.

Next time you are at the VAC, have a look if you want to see one in real life. And I think the Ath has one too.

Similarly for Genie's.

Maybe you should stop bashing poor LED panels :) and get out more!

:)

Yep that would be nice  Would save me a good 2 hours on the get in (going up and down scaff towers and ladders 50 or so times and then finding out the director has changed their mind at the last minuete and wants this over there and that over here... )

Tallescope -A piece of access equipment that was a very common sight in theatre land ,now being hunted to extinction by hse types.

I don't get why they are being hunted though? They look like a much much safer alternative to a ladder and easier to use than a scaff tower

If Genie means a scissorlift of the blue kind then yes ive seen plenty of them.

I must keep my eyes open and see if I can see one in real life. They sound like and look like the perfect solution to alot of my problems.

They deserved to be bashed! Reasoning is - When I bring up the Blue LED's on panel #1 the blue LED's on panel #15 also turn on. and this only happens to some of them... very very annoying. and then that screws up my other good panels by burning out a (what looks to be a Triac with only 2 legs) which makes them stay Blue no matter what I do until I replace the Component. <_<

For the answer to that question, just read one of the several tallescope/WaH threads that abound...

Genie make scissor lifts and cherry pickers, but in our industry (in the UK) people generally use the word "genie" to mean an IWP or AWP. (ie: something quite similar to a tallescope)
