timtheenchanteruk
We are looking at getting a new PA system for rehearsals, at the moment we have a Carsbro Traveller, nothing specifically wrong with it, just looking to simplyfy setting up for each session, and reduce the kit we carry, this also has 2 radiomics and a CD player to go with it. I have found something ideal. Here but want this in a reliable format. studiospares had something Identical in their catalogue, but seems to no longer be stocked on their website this would be ideal, one plug, playback built in, would just leave the music on an SD card. any ideas? the only other ones I have seen available over here seem to be either no powerful enough, or missing features. jamesperrett
That one doesn't go very loud (only 113dB SPL according to the spec) and uses a piezo tweeter so I doubt that it sounds very good. James.
timtheenchanteruk
TBH, I have no idea what the DB figure is on the carlsbro, just that its 2x 75 watt, never use it cranked up for rehearsals though. the hall is appox 20'x20' and used by 25-30 kids plus a few adults during sessions, its for them to sing/dance/rehearse to, not for performances. soundiesam
hey we just got these at work they seem quite nice and very portable check them out they should do what you want them to do.... you will need to get radio mics seperatly:samson HTHsam
dboomer
My suggestion would be to spend your money and get one higher quality speaker rather than spreading that money across two lesser ones. I don't know how many inputs you need ... but you may be able to simply use one of the self powered models from JBL, Peavey, Mackie, etc. You can plug in a single mic as well as a line level for a music player. It will be much easier to build up starting this way should that time ever come. Don BoomerLine 6, inc.
TimmyP1955
Headphones or wired IEMS. Better sound, safer volume, less racket for the neighbors to put up with.

I'm intruiged as to how "25-30 kids plus a few adults during sessions, its for them to sing/dance/rehearse" will manage with headphones?!

Tall Guy
you might want to look at Mipro Ma-708 with two radio and a cd player (with usb input) Horn loaded and louder than it looks.
davescott
Try EV ZX1 with a soundcraft or dynacord powered mixer. This stuff is small, reasonably lightweight, and it sounds proper! Its not the cheapest gear around but who wants a chinese PA?

I haven't either :) Years and years ago following complaints about our band practicing we switched to headphones. You walk into the rehearsal shed and you hear is drums (muffled with stuff) and vocals; everything else DI'd and silent...
HolyPhish
apologies for off-topic-ness Years and years ago following complaints about our band practicing we switched to headphones. You walk into the rehearsal shed and you hear is drums (muffled with stuff) and vocals; everything else DI'd and silent... I saw a youtube video of a silent band a while back (will try to find linky) basically drums were electronic, BAss was Di'd, Guitars were in 'Pods' and Vocals through normal mics. Monitoring was done with in-ears. The BAnd were playing metal with all the energy and ferocity one would expect and the Engineer dropped the FOH to the level u would use for background music. It was classic, the Band were hearing what they wanted at the level they wanted it and the Mix could be as loud or quiet as the Engineer wanted with no bleed from amps or drums off the stage. It was being done purely as a comic thing but it did show how good IE's are at reducing stage noise!

Im just interested in the all in one units, I already have a spare room of other guff I could use if I wanted a bigger system.
