Smiffy
Hi Guys: I need a CMY Colour Changer, comparable in output and Beam Size to a City Colour, but lighter. Doesn't necessarily have to be smaller, but must be lighter as it will be rigged rather than on the deck, and it's quite a way up. Needs to be fairly reliable, as it's going to be left to its own devices for months at a time. I'm out of ideas. Cheers Smiffy
son of lx dad
This doesn't directly answer the question but if it helps, a City Color can be 'rigged' upside down. Both WhiteLight and SLX were able to provide hanging capable units in days gone by, but it was a rare occurrence. I myself have done so in the Albert Hall and the Odessey Arena Belfast. As to the reliability well........ In terms of beam size and output the only theatrical fixture I can think of is a VL3500 Wash. At least a heck of a lot more reliable and will dim properly. rossmck
A venue I've worked in a couple of times has a few Coemar "SuperCyc" moving wash lights - they have CMY mixing and twin 1200W MSD lamps so probably comparable in output ?
matt_h
How much lighter? There is this http://www.studiodue.com/images/brochures/...ED-2010-low.pdf. I've seen a real world demo of the 600 side by side with a City Colour and they are pretty well matched in terms of output. Its still 31kgs though! Smiffy
Thanks Guys. I think I'm going to need a shoot-out. The LED solution looks ideal if it's bright enough. It's a fully controlled environment so chances are I might get away with them. Thank you all. Cheers Smiffy

Cheers Smiffy Hy Smiffy, we are have good experience with Griven Kolorado Mk3 2500W units, it`s have wide beam, great output and you can separate ballast pack and light head.If you plan to install on truss this is ideal situation, ballast on floor and with extension cord (15,25,35m) connect ballast with light head. Best ragards.
