Noise from Showtec MultiDim

Am looking to purchase 4 of these for our church installation, but am just a little concerned about their noise potential. Can anyone who has these dimmers comment on how physically noisy they are in operation.

The plan is to have these mounted on the lighting bars maybe only 10 feet above the users, but have just had the concern raised about whether their self-noise will be intrusive.

Possibly depends on how much you load them, the chokes wil bzzz a bit nore with 1KW runninng through them than 500w.

But having just got a few , on recommendation of others in this group, they are pretty quiet, think the chokes are siliconed to PCB ,and lamps themselves sing a bit, parcans being most noticeable example, wether the dimmers are remote or not.

Thomann got me some with IEC sockets, with a bit of a delay, hopefully supply lines are now reestablished, rather than the Schucko that are illustrated on their website at the best price by a long margin:

Delivery of instock product took about 4 days from Germany, good people to deal with , again from recommendations here and elsewhere, have no problem recommending them myself.

not nosiy atall, as long as the levels arent changing all the time

ps: you might want to take out all the screws on the back of the unit and turn the back plate round for easier mounting etc

Having originally planned a mixture of Par64s & 1k DTS theatre spots, I'm now tending far more towards Eurolite ML-64s everywhere for consistency & compactness, needing only one kind of spare lamp for all fixtures. Plus, the idea of ~1k output form a 575W drawing lamp is attractive, for driving the dimmers less hard.

So, planning on 4 MultiDims, each driving 4 ML-64s. That should be well within limits, right? And give the option for adding one or two additional lamps for the odd channel if required.

4xML-64s (which I presume are using the HPL575 lamp) will run at 9.58A at full load @ 240v. I think you can run GKV600s in them by taking out a couple of screws, and if you did this the total power would be 10A.

As the packs have a total load of 16A (so you can't run each of the 4, 5A channels at full) so you could in future add another couple of ML-64s onto the packs as pairs.
