tom_the_LD
Hi all, Interesting problem that I just wondered if anybody else had come across! Got WYG installed and running on a Win 7 32 Bit partition, however whenever my Creative Audigy 2 Platinum is installed and working, WYG won't boot. At all. It just won't load! The process is running in task manager but the app doesn't work. Disabling the sound card in Device Manager allows WYG to work as it should. Anybody else experienced this or should I contact CAST? Cheers all! Tom
tom_the_LD
Just thought I'd add a bit more information to this one that I've found out incase it helps at all. I'm currently running R22 (student version of perform from CAST) on Windows 7 64 bit and I'm getting the same issue. Interestingly it's only during launch. If I disable the driver, allow WYG to launch, and then re-enable my sound card it's absolutely fine. The process still starts up, and is visible in task manager, it just doesn't load the application properly for some reason. Any ideas anybody? Cheers! Smiffy
Hi Tom: From my other job supporting add-ons for a popular Simulation game, we've discovered that there is something that Creative have started doing to their drivers over the last 12 to 18 months that just seem to wreak havoc on LOTS of other software. Your motherboard isn't an Asus P6T Deluxe V2 by any chance is it? Cheers Smiffy
tom_the_LD
Hi Paul, The motherboard is a P6N SLI V2, however I'm using an external PCI sound card - the Creative Audigy 2.
merlin24
Its sounds like a compatibility issue due to the fact that Wyg R22 was never designed to run on Windows 7. The first release that officially supported it was R24 or 25 I forget now. It could well be a conflict of drivers. The trouble is that product will be unsupported, due to the nature of the deal that was being run. Sorry I cannot be of more help. Andy.
tom_the_LD
Hi Andy, Just thought I'd add to this topic. I've just downloaded the R25 demo from the CAST website and it's still exactly the same. WYG will not launch unless the Creative card is disabled. Interesting IMO. tom_the_LD
Just thought I'd update people on this issue, incase others have similar issues. This problem has now been fixed with the release (and installation of) Windows 7 Service Pack 1. I now no longer need to diable the soundcard to get WYG to start. I'm running Windows 7 64 Bit (with Service Pack 1) - just to clarify. Cheers! Tom
