Mush Posted October 13, 2004 Posted October 13, 2004 can I make an adapter for 37pin soca to whatever it is in the behringer (sub din, it says it has 12ch dimming) This got lost in another thread and with the benefit of hindsight.... Behringer LC24/12 has analogue out available on first 12 channels via 15 Pin Sub D, looks like a D end on, connector, DIN plug is round one that stands for Deutche Industr..er something http://www.rapidelectronics.co.uk/rkmain.a..._CAT_CODE=30208
Adrianfreston Posted October 13, 2004 Posted October 13, 2004 Burn it! To quote Monty Python "We found a witch, can we burn her?" I don't like companies that rip off other peoples ideas. If I popped round your house for a cup of tea and borrowed your computer, copied all the software on the computer, that you had paid for, and started to sell it, you would be pretty annoyed with me, right? Well in my opinion, this company is very openly ripping off peoples products and selling them. This does not serve the industry as a whole well. If you want to buy crap you are going to buy it, nothing I can do about that, but have a thought for the companies that are actually trying to make your life better by making these products. If you strangle them they will die and the innovation that we have grown to expect from this dynamic industry will go with it. Adrian
James Posted October 13, 2004 Posted October 13, 2004 Unfortunatly this is a common theme across many industries, this one included. Adrian, I assume that you ony buy Thomas parcans for example? Or a Strand lighting desk? It's a known fact that as soon as someone comes up with a new inventive product that people want to buy other companies will try to copy the technology. And if you have patented the technology then you have published exactly how you did it for the world to see, and possibly take your thinking and work out how to do it better. So why patent? the early cars coming out of the Japanese car indutstry were copies of western cars, it took them a few years to get sorted now potentialy they are forducing some great cars. court acoustics went to the wall after everyone copied their subs, their copyright only coverd a sub 4' high, everyone made theirs 3'10" high. irrespective of behringer's past (and don't we have a policy of if someone has done their time then they have dealt with the crime, we should forgive and move on.) the question is are they now going to continue to create products like the DDX3216 that are new, inovative and putt something back into the industry they steped on to get into in the first place? Just a thought James
benweblight Posted October 13, 2004 Posted October 13, 2004 you have to remember that with about 60% of these instances, it is perfectly ok escpeially cheaper products, are usually made by the same people anyway!!! but rebadged
Mush Posted October 13, 2004 Author Posted October 13, 2004 Burn it! To quote Monty Python "We found a witch, can we burn her?" And the benefit of hindsight was from....Adrian?? Please if you wish to start a thread about how the LC24/12 is a straight copy of an old MA deign, be my guest, but it has been done to death before. Well aware of Aphex`s views on Behringer. The use and abuse of patents in, the lighting, industry is a whole other thread in itself Anyuway the Behringer works fine on the analogue dimmers I`ve plugged one into and makes it an attractive and versatile unit for the price, though programming is not that intuitive.
Brian Posted October 13, 2004 Posted October 13, 2004 I don't like companies that rip off other peoples ideas.Could somebody explain to me exactly what it is on the Behringer that is ripped off from someone elses product?
