EW100 G1 Handheld Transmitter Fault

Hi everyone,

Basically - I was wondering weather anyone had experienced this as well, and weather you think it's worth sending back for repair.

Its an EW165 (G1) handheld, using a matching G1 diversity receiver. Every now and again the sound just drops out for no apparent reason - only for around a second, then it's back on.

I've tried everything I can think of, different frequency, different receiver etc, but still does it. We're now using a second identical transmitter with the same frequency and receiver and it's not giving any problems. I'm fairly sure it's not the battery (again it's not doing it with the other mic, and it sometimes does it straight away with a brand new battery). And I'm not sure what else it could be (aside from dodgy connections inside which is a bit beyond me to be honest)!

I can't find any info on Sennheiser's website about returning stuff for repairs, or even warranty information.

Does anyone know if they will still repair G1 kit?

We're just weighing up weather to look at repair or not, considering we'll have to upgrade in the next year or two anyway when the frequencies change.

Any and all thoughts welcome!

Thanks in advance.

The going rate as I understand it for repairs like this is £65 + VAT, and if you add a fiver for postage is getting rather close to the second hand value of these. I bought one on ebay a few weeks ago, and it went for £55, which I thought a good deal for a spare, just in case. With the frequency changes coming up - it depends if you consider it to have a life left?

Thanks - I think we'll give that a go.
