northernaudioman
Does anyone know how long it will be before the Ch38 G3's are available? The last information from Sennheiser was back in november 2009 when they said they were 'working on it'. Perhaps they are just delaying and hoping people will buy the rather more expensive 2000 series instead which already come in a version that tunes to channel 38.Sennheiser are currently running the final checks on the G3/Ch:38 version and expect to have product out in August - this was the news from Sennheiser on Wednesday. Regards Oliver.
TimmyP1955
Hi All We're replacing our aging Sennheiser EW300 G2 radio mics but can't decide whether to replace them with G3's or the Trantec S5.5 'Racked and Ready' system. Are they causing you problems? If so, having them gone through by Sennheiser might be more cost effective than replacing them. (If they are working OK, I'd keep on usin' 'em.) hounsome
ok I have used both and I would wait until ch38 is on the senn. as there was a lot of sound transmitted from the body of the handhelds on the Trantec when turning the mute on and off. the one good thing on the trantec is that it only used 1 AA cell. colin
Dilloway123
I am a big trantec fan, they are on par withte sennhieser and for a very small price in comparison. We've had ours for about a year and a half and they are just great, plus the feedback rejection is unrivaled. We took ours out on sunday and a singer walked right in front of a 20,000 watt stack and it didn't sweat at all, and no graphics andfeedback detection systems were int he system! The only thing is tha you can't update the Trantecs where you can the G3'S, which maybe a big concern if the mobile phone companies get their wish in two years time. If you are going to use them for a year or two, Trantec's all they way but if longer, G3's all the way!
timtheenchanteruk
The only thing is tha you can't update the Trantecs not really in issue, seeing as you can already get them in Ch38, which AFAIK is a done deal now...
cedd
Just to update this one, Sennheiser have now released their G3GB range, which are channel 38. No reviews and haven't used them before, I guess they'll perform exactly the same as the other G3's, but thought for the sake of fullness, I should mention it now they've caught up with Trantec. Your not gaining anything by that really are you?
StevieR
Took their time, though....

Your not gaining anything by that really are you?Sennheiser are quoting 8 hours life for 2 AA's. Trantec seem to think theirs will do 10 hours on 1 AA. In practice I'd never trust these values and would always knock at least a couple of hours off of what's specified to be ultra safe. To me that means 2 shows safely on the trantec's (3 probably, possibly 2 shows and then put them to one side for rehearsals) whereas I'd probably just use the Sennheisers for 2 shows (I work on 3 hours consumption per show, if I'm quick fitting them and getting them off again!). In my mind the Trantec's win hands down on the battery life. Clearly seeing is believing and I'd want to get some first hand experience with a decent quality battery meter first.
