thisismyusername
Hey guys, I've read a few past threads on here about firearm safety, so I dont know if theis is in the right place, but I own Replica Imitation Firearms (Airsoft weapons) and Ive been leanding them out to the production company that I work for. I have been present on sets and have trained the actor to use them safely, however, my training is only basic, and it comes from online resources and 'professionals' at airsoft events. Is there a qualification I should have or NEED in order to train handling, or is it that you have to be over 18 and be competant in Health and Safety? Thanks alot guys
Jivemaster
If it's a correctly specified airsoft weapon and unmodified, then it isn't a section 5 firearm end of. However there is still the VCRA to consider so if it LOOKS like a firearm it does come under VCRA but legitimate theatre is a legitimate use as is legitimate use on movie sets. Walking into a bank or post office with an airsoft weapon could be just as bad a move as taking a loaded weapon into there. There are a FEW real experts in this field and very few. I'll copy your post to someone who does know, but whether he replies to you......
thisismyusername
Thanks for that, I thought so, but I needed to make sure that there weren't any other safety issues. Still is there anyway of getting theatre grade weapons training for the purpose of handling, or should it just be experience and competence?
