Any experience of JandsHog 600 or Event 408 ?

Hi - got a show coming up in a local venue:

venue has 72 channels of conventional dimming, a pile of LED fixtures and a few moving head wash lights - but no control desk.

They've offered me a Jandshog 600 or an Event 408 - but I've no experience of either. So I'm after advice about the pros/cons of each, particularly which is faster to get to grips with as regards programming.

The show is a standard musical production - so will need to be operated as a cue stack

Cheers

I've got a 600, it will do the job fine - although when I moved to it from my previous control, I found the cleverer bits a bit of a challenge. The good bit is the manual is pretty good, and once the syntax is got to grips with, all is well. Just be aware that many functions require two keys to access. The key to most features is the HOG button, and the button next to it.

For theatre stack programming, one useful feature to get to know quickly is how to grab all active channels so you can stick them in the programmer - via the active button. Like most controls, you can slap states into the stack bare, or by using the SET button, you can type in helpful info there and then. Obviously you can go back into the LCD list and type them all in later, along with cue times etc.

The 600 scores because there are more ways of working. You can have the cue list stack, and then handy other stuff on the other faders - houselights, a bit of FOH fill, working lights etc.

In terms of programming, they're quick because they're based around groups, colours and positions - so if you have movers in the rig, a few button pushes mean far less work.
