prolightdesigner Posted June 8, 2010 Posted June 8, 2010 Hey all, quick question about an ETC Express 48/96. In the manual, it states that the console has 192 channels and 1024 dimmers. I'm just wondering what is the difference between the channels and the dimmers. I would imagine the the 1024 dimmers is a product of the console's two universes of DMX, but then how does the 192 channel limit fit in? Thanks,-Jeff
Wol Posted June 8, 2010 Posted June 8, 2010 You can set it up like: Channel 1 = DMX 34, 123, 256, 1-45, 1-69 etc...Channel 2 = DMX 23, 24, 25 ... Basically you can patch several dimmers onto each of the channels. So you can control 96 different things (channels), but those things can be either one or more dimmers/DMX channels
prolightdesigner Posted June 8, 2010 Author Posted June 8, 2010 Thank's, that's what I needed to know! -Jeff
tom_the_LD Posted June 8, 2010 Posted June 8, 2010 1024 dimmers refers to the two universes. So you could have 1024 1 channel fixtures, 512 2 channel fixtures etc. etc. The 192 channels referrs to the number of, well, channels the console has! Although it has only 96 faders, you can access up to 192 by typing on the keypad. For example 192 @ 50. So effectively, you can patch those 1024 "dimmers" to up to 192 different places. I hope that makes some sense - I know what I mean!
