TomHoward Posted June 7, 2010 Posted June 7, 2010 For me I would buy one of the one-channel DMX dimmers off UsedLighting for £30, as it may be useful in a theatrical situation and would give you a clear indication of whether a control desk is working.
niclights Posted June 7, 2010 Posted June 7, 2010 If you just want to prove that you have DMX output then one of the cheap LED cans will be fine. But those cans do weird things like flickering and the comment about being 'compliant' was quite valid.
Bruff Posted June 8, 2010 Posted June 8, 2010 If freight/postage costs are a problem - then buy from your local shop and use the bus! You cannot blame Thomann for this one - surely? 3 year warranty, and if you buy something expensive, and don't like it - they take it back. They've lost the postage from them to you, it seems fair to lose the postage the other way. In fact present consumer protection even allows for this. The distance selling regs allow you to return things you bought as a consumer - but return postage is up to the seller. If they tell you you pay, the law deems it reasonable. If a supplier sells you a product that fails or is not as described, then they pay the postage. You must have had a problem with them that others obviously haven't - what was it? 1) Postage costs can be a problem - so I prefer UK based vendors eg CPC2) I'm not blaming them - merely pointing out a possible pitfall3) Of the 6 units, I liked the 2 that worked, but not the 2 that were DOA, or the 2 that failed within a fortnight. Thomann refused to pay the postage costs, although dealt with the refund for the goods efficiently. Steve.
