lasvegas
Hi all, on a week off I have brought the bands mac 250s home as they are flippin hopeless at the moment. I am not a lighting tech really but help a little. After having a look inside I found a belt that had popped off and caught round a clip which has cured quite a few of the issues, however there are a couple more. On one unit the prism arm doesn't always move to the right position, it sometimes doesn't fully retract and sometimes doesn't move fully into place so it is often half way across the beam. Is there a position sensor I should be looking for? On both units, the shutters are very hit and miss with there positioning. I removed the shutters and made marks on the motor shafts to see if they moved when I operated the desk (Fat Frog) but there was no movement. Again, sometimes they work but mostly not, or incorrectly. Any ideas anyone? Thanks in advanceSam :P

Thanks in advanceSam :** laughs out loud **: The prism motor sounds like it is too weak to correctly position the prism assembly, as it finds it's positioning on start up during the clanking and ticking process, a new motor is probably the best solution (others may suggest stripping and cleaning of bearings etc). The shutter motors might be the same issue, but first I would suspect the output buffer capacitors on the main circuit board, check to see if any of the aluminium tops are bulging, if so change these. Another give away for this problem is if you get the motors vibrating in stand still. And dont worry about making the shafts of the motors as they self correct positioning at start up.
