IA76 Posted May 25, 2010 Posted May 25, 2010 Hi If I'm connecting from mixer main out L (XLR) to the amp in input on the amp(6.35mm jack) should it be a a mono or stereo jack? Thanks
Andrew C Posted May 25, 2010 Posted May 25, 2010 Depends on the amp. If it has balanced inputs, TRS. If it is unbalanced, either.
IA76 Posted May 25, 2010 Author Posted May 25, 2010 It's one of these amps http://www.inter-m.uk.com/pdfs/operation_m...a%20opmanls.pdf It doesn't say whether the amp in is balanced or unbalanced.
tolley1466 Posted May 25, 2010 Posted May 25, 2010 Where are you wanting to take the output from the mixer into? I can only see XLR in's on that amp
timtheenchanteruk Posted May 25, 2010 Posted May 25, 2010 looking at the wiring diagrams in the manual, unbalanced.
david.elsbury Posted May 25, 2010 Posted May 25, 2010 1) since it's a PA amp of that sort and 2) based on the section of the block diagram I have outlined below, I'd say unbalanced.http://i49.tinypic.com/fz9eo1.jpg
paulears Posted May 25, 2010 Posted May 25, 2010 The amp in jack on this mixer/amp is almost certainly unbalanced, so the simplest way to wire it would be to take the XLR end as 1,2 and 3, and then at the jack end, use a three circuit TRS plug. The only possible snag could be if the jack socket is only a two circuit type, and does not have the ring and sleeve linked. While you're making the cable up, solder in a short link inside the jack linking sleeve and ring, just in case.
