I'm looking for any decent, free audio recording software for windows anyone has come across. Just out of interest as stuff like this has proven useful to me in the past.

It depends what you want to do with it really.

 

Audacity is free.

Reaper is very cheap for what it is. It also has an unlimited demo, but if you are going to use it often please buy a licence.

There is also Krystal but I don't know much about it.

Can do just about everything you might need it for, and IMO its quite simple to use
