Joe90 Posted May 16, 2010 Posted May 16, 2010 Hi, I'm in the market for some new stage monitors, I run a small PA company doing sound for various bands on the pub / club circuit. Have been thinking about Martin Audio F10+ or F12+, but have recently looked at HK PR:O 12M. Just wondered what peoples opinions on these are? I've had some experience of the Martin's and found their feedback rejection good but obviously the price of the Martin's are quite a bit more expensive than the HK's or are there any other passive monitors I should consider within the price range of the monitors already mentioned... Cheers, Gary.
ChrisBogg Posted May 18, 2010 Posted May 18, 2010 I haven't used the martins but you could look at the Ohm 112 if your looking for 12s. I find these very good for a 12 inch wedge and not to big ether. They can be run of an amp flat with no real problems or something like an xti with a little eq. They also go great on a pole for a small PA system. PM me if you would like to hear some of ours.
SPTTRIAL Posted May 18, 2010 Posted May 18, 2010 have a look at the logic systems monitors, they all use good components and are quite reasnobly priced for what you get.
digisound Posted May 18, 2010 Posted May 18, 2010 I have experienced the martin f series and for monitors I was very pleased. Old le-400's work well or if you can find them le12J. Also I have found the Martin EM range to be very pleasing as well although they don't have a link output. Hope this helps
tolley1466 Posted May 18, 2010 Posted May 18, 2010 Also I have found the Martin EM range to be very pleasing as well although they don't have a link output. Nope, no link output. Out of interest, did you use the EM speakers as wedges? I've heard the F12s in action as wedges. They provide pleasing results. Where are you based? Someone may be able to demo a couple for you (also, update the location on your profile )
digisound Posted May 18, 2010 Posted May 18, 2010 Yes, small events and gigs they prove nice and light and effective, although carry some packers as you will have to angle them to suit bit of a crude way of doing things as you also dont have the corrent horn dispersion angle but my back thanked me as the venue included 4 flights of stairs. EM76's x 4 ran off crown itechs.
