dan slv-tech
hi room been looking for a while now for a tablet PC (no keyboard, just a "slate") to run studiomanager on for the Yamaha LS9. Struggling to find anything out there. As I understand it the options are Vista or windows 7 to run SM in.I really liked the Joojoo as it was originally billed to run windows 7, which sadly when launched doesnt. anyone had any experience with a good tablet running SM on? timtheenchanteruk
depends on your budget, but the HP touchscreen PCs can be booted with no keyboard/mouse and run 7, or just use a tablet laptop, and spin the screen round so the keyboard is out of the way. the PCs have the advantage they can be mounted on a suitable vesa mount. Shez
As far as I can see, XP is still supported too, if that widens the field a little.

strandgsx
We use panasonic toughbooks which tend to survive much longer than standard tablets. They don't mind being rained on nor dropped either.
Rob_Beech
A local company has a pair of identical HP touch screen (finger touch not just stylus jobbys) laptops for this purpose. They are normal laptops but everything folds up to make it a tablet. A large battery (when bought new you get 2 batteries) running studio manager is good for several hours. These both run on Vista. dan slv-tech
thanks for all your suggestions, everyone seems to be using laptops (or varients of) has anyone sucessfully used a tablet, something like the ipad (obviously the Ipad wont do it) but something that is just a tablet, without the foldaway part? SoLiEn
Ive used my TC1000 without the keyboard attached, so literally just the touchscreen pc and its fine. * compaq TC1000 is a tablet pc with foldaway keyboard that is detachable.*
BlueShift
this is one of the things I look forward to doing on my iPad via VNC... that way I can have my laptop at FOH, running iTunes, R1, Studio manager, etc... and then be wandering around with an iPad and controlling it all via VNC. Whats more, an ipad lasts a whole day on battery, not just a few hours...
TeeJay
thanks for all your suggestions, everyone seems to be using laptops (or varients of) has anyone sucessfully used a tablet, something like the ipad (obviously the Ipad wont do it) but something that is just a tablet, without the foldaway part? It's fair enough to want just the tablet part - but unless you are solely using the tablet to manipulate control software, having the option of a keyboard is lovely and makes large text entries a lot easier. For those keeping score on brands, my HP TX2550 has run versions 2 and 3 of Studio Manager (M7CL) fine (along with d&b R1 in the background at the same time)
