Hi guys,

Have been reading through the forums for help on this and can't really find anything useful after 2005 (funny that really!)

Basically...

I need to be able to connect WYSIWYG to a Strand 520i console to be able to visualise mover programming (I'm not going to be able to get hold of the movers until the 2nd week of production)

Can someone give me a basic rundown of what kit I'm going to need to do this (if it is possible at all)? I'm assuming just PC running wyg, console and a network connection, but I don't know how well everything will talk to everything else.

Any help would be appreciated,

David

You need the correct version of WYSIWYG, I can't remember if that is Perform or Console Edition (or maybe either). You will also need the Strand WYSIWYG drivers which are in the 500 series support section of their website.

I don't currently own a copy of WYG, it's going to be a purchase once I know it can be done.

While we're here, can anyone recommend any other decent visualisers that would work if I decide to go down a different path to wyg?

I use Light Converse extensively. Most newer desks will allow you to run it on the same computer as the desk offline editor, but it has connectivity between a few and if it isn’t a newer one, you can always input Art-Net should your desk output it. I am not sure whether the 520 can do this??

I have used MSD, ESP and WYG (briefly) and the graphics just don’t compare. LC has awesome graphics. It isn’t quite there on the paperwork, but the manufacturers are working on that. Also, LC doesn’t have the same prolonged cost as WYG, once you have bought it, it is yours. The updates are free. And depending on the version, it isn’t too expensive either. The prices are found here - http://lightconverse.de/lc/lc_sell-price.htm

Buy many people I have spoken to say it is a matter of preference. You may like LC, but you may not. I certainly did so I recommend downloading the demo version and taking a good look around. I believe your UK rep is Aziz at Avolites (very helpful guy, especially with LC).

Let us know which one you choose :D

Best Regards,
