dunk Posted April 12, 2010 Posted April 12, 2010 Evening All, I have a MQ100 Pro Console with a Playback wing which I use regularly. One thing I often do is use it with my Hippotizer media servers to drive animation across loads of LED fixtures (over artnet). With DMX capture in mind, can I send the DMX and/or Artnet stream from the Hippo into the console and record whats coming in and then dump it somewhere, thus meaning I could get away with not using the Hippo on some occasions? If this is possible, would I lose it if I created a new show? (FWIW, I am aware that that Chamsys does have pixel mapping and movie over pixel map functionaliity but it isnt as flexible as the Hippotizer Pixel Map, with orientation being totally flexible, as well as grid size being potentially unlimited). Thanks Dunc @ DCLX
tvi675 Posted April 13, 2010 Posted April 13, 2010 Hi Dunc, You can capture snapshots of DMX input and record this, however we don't have functionality to be able to record a stream and then play it back. The feature is more designed for people who want to migrate from other desks and retain their show files, so you can snapshot palettes/cues etc into the desk. I know you can get hold of DMX recorders which could do the job, but I don't think I've come across one that runs across more than one universe. Matt

vishal Posted September 9, 2012 Posted September 9, 2012 Hi, We are having a Musical Fountain set up by a company. It uses DMX512 control for lightning; we play music in synchronization with that. The show is of 15minutes runs twice a day. All this was design by company and being operated by company's propitiatory computer and software. We want to eliminate the use of company's computer and software; probably using some DMX stream recorder. Can someone guide me which product or solutions to go for?
dbuckley Posted September 9, 2012 Posted September 9, 2012 There are now lots of DMX recorder / playback units available, some that spring to mind are the cheap units that Thomann sell, then there are the up-market products such as the Alcorn McBride LightCue and the Artistic Licence Two Play and they also do a four play that is a rack unit. How do you synchronize the music to the fountain? What controls the fountain?
