miagui
Has anybody watched the impressive visuals backdrop in the Victoria's Secret 2009 fashion show? The projectors are definitely 30K + lumens HD Barcos or Christies, but my questions are: how are they setup, so there are no shadows on the models or performers even at extremely close range, probably a bit right on the sliding door. The other thing is, how is there no beam defined showing off from the projector when the lights beams are fully defined with all the haze?
steve h
there were projections? im afraid I was too busy looking elsewhere to notice! Edit: Ive changed my mind. After some tough watching I would say that the doors look like screens. they are deffiantly brighter and look to be at a lower res than the "house". The rest appears to be coming in from the front at an angle, shown by the increasing shadow under anything that juts out as you get lower. With some clever positioning of the porjectors you should easily be able to avoid getting shadows as the models are only confined to the catwalk and dont go sneaking along right next to the backdrop. As for why they dont show up? I would say that its because they wouldnt be bright enough against everything else. There doesnt seem to be too much haze and its only right at the top so the cameras would probably struggle defining it against the bright beams coming from the other lights Steve
Joe Bleasdale
I seem to remember reading a thread about this on LightNetwork. I think it was Pandora's box servers with a GrandMA running it. It could have been back projected? Best Regards,

miagui
ya, I only looked closely at the projection during black eyed peas!! ;) they are surely not LED screens, u can see the white structure in some of the rehearsal shots; lamps in such projectors are 2.5k xenon lamps , much powerful than any lighting fixture out there! also with such a distance for projection, they are using long throw lenses which have a nice beam effect closer to the projector !! projecting from top to avoid shadows will distort the image too much even with software !!!still baffled !!!!!
