tommulliner Posted April 8, 2010 Posted April 8, 2010 Hi There, One of my drama groups has recently bought some Showtec Par 56 Cans (NOT LED) and when I was putting them together (lamp in, plugs on, hook clamp on) I noticed that the lamps didn't go in very well. They, as far as I can see, the lamp sits in the bottom of the can and a lamp retaining ring sits in a groove in the can. The ring doesn't seem to want to stay in the groove and when I pick up the can with lamp in, it 'pops' out! I have to really try to jam in the ring to seem to get it to stay in place, but when put on, heat making the metal expand and all that, I don't really want the lamp popping out of position when in rig! Has anyone else had this problem with these lights? What did you do? Thanks, Tom.
david.elsbury Posted April 8, 2010 Posted April 8, 2010 As a starter for 10, how about calling or emailling Showtec? Not impossible you've got a badly manufactured can.
david.elsbury Posted April 8, 2010 Posted April 8, 2010 I should also have said, or the place you purchased them from. (mods- if you wish to merge this post with my previous then please do)
Paul J Need Posted April 9, 2010 Posted April 9, 2010 As a showtec dealer this is something we have not heard of before, and find the PAR units actually very good; so much so we've added them to out hire stock. May I suggest you send the units back from whereever you bought them for replacement as it sounds like you have received a bad batch. The lamp sould now fall out.
RoyJ Posted April 11, 2010 Posted April 11, 2010 Hi, we have short, long and floor cans from showtec, the only problem I've had is with the short can and the lamp holder not making a good connection. The long nose and floor cans have given no problems.I would advise you contact overt lighting the uk importer if you are having problems, as they were very good when I had problems with an aquatic fx projector, and together with musicman light and sound in Derby got the lantern sorted out very quickly. As has beeen said allready, it is possible you have a bad example, hope this helps.Keep it illuminated Roy
