Where did you get the machines from? Are the cartridges even available in the UK? Have you a picture or a drawing of what you need. Can the original cartridges be refilled by (Calor, BP, BOC etc) any competent refiller.

B&Q did some propane-butane mixed gas cartridges for some of their blowtorches. However it's flame so who is the design authority and who holds the product liability insurance, who can give permission to modify a design?

B&Q did some propane-butane mixed gas cartridges for some of their blowtorches.

Thats all we have available here in NZ, its locally called LPG, and its a propane / butane mix, and its insipid and horrible, and worse than that, the propane burns off quicker than the butane, so the cylinder mixture reduces in proportion of propane through the life, so the flame just gets cooler with time. At the end you're left with almost pure butane, which is useless, and then the cylinder gets refilled, and so the butane proportion starts out greater...

Hateful stuff.

The cans are silver and do not have any markings on it at all!!!!! (good help that is)

Unfortantlly we dont have the boxes anymore so cant read it

sorry im very vague

Thanks All

Why don't you contact Mad Effects in Northern Ireland to ask where you get replacement gas from? Slightly worryingly they are not registered with companies house, nor do they have a land-line!

Looks like they took up the offer from China that I had also! AFIK those flames are NOT propane but LPG propelled liquid. You need the correct cans with the correct content and though the Chinese supplier will air freight the machines the cans have to come by sea which is eight weeks usually unless you pay silly money for specialist carriers and special expediting.

Put that address into google maps then look at the streetview! Robin D are you sure of the business being at that address?

Ill concurr with the address

http://www.hotfroguk.co.uk/Companies/MADeffects

googled the mobile number, a few websites give the same address for them.

Just because thats the registered address, doesn't mean thats where they do most business from, quite possible thats a home office, and they operate from a warehouse somewhere.

strange not to have a land line if they truly do sell all the kit they claim to do though...(not impossible to find one though, seeing as you can find the MDs name/address from google!!)
