We need to snort cocaine in our show + Ketamin

I've spoken to a few people - one medical and they suggested baking powder. Im intending to put a filter in the money or straw to help stop a lot goin in their noses. Just to see if anyone else has had to snort before?

Also is there anywhere you can buy theatre money - I need a lot of new crisp £10 notes

IIRC baking powder is frequently used to dilute cocaine IRL, because it looks like the real thing.

Some of this needs to be performance rather than reality.

Indeed - that's what makes these things fun B-)

I'm wondering if you could prepare a fake, pre-rolled tenner; the actor would roll up a real one, palm it with a bit of sleight-of-hand and then use the pre-roll to "snort" with.

I'd try making something from a piece of acrylic tube with a bit of a tenner wrapped around it. I'd experiment with smearing Vaseline on the inside; to try to trap as much powder as possible, before it got to the top. A filter will reduce the suction and shouldn't be too dense.

I'm also wondering, if you could do *something* with a large solder sucker up the actor's sleeve - maybe with a flexible tube that could *somehow* be attached to a hole drilled in the side of the pre-roll, close to the bottom. Not quite sure how it would work, without having three hands, tho' :D

Another thought... Is there a way you could make the line disappear into the table? B-)

If you get you'r performers to snort baking powder it'll sting (trust me)

Glucose powder won't hurt but will make their noses run (more than the real stuff) almost uncontrolably and worse than that it'll be horibly sticky as it runs back out of their noses during the rest of the scene and for most of the night. The same goes for anything sugary (sherbert etc).

Having said that whatever you use isn't going to be good for your performers. Are your audience actually going to be able to see the surface from which these lines are snorted? IF it's a raised stage there's a good chance they won't in which case no-one is going to see the the line is still there. You could also try using a mirror as the lighting will reflect off of it and make it harder to see if the line is still there.

OR, how about getting the actors to chop out several lines at once making it harder for the audience to see how many are still there after the actors head comes up from the table.

Dextrose or Fructose can be brought from the chemist and will not sting or make the nose run uncontrollably. Try to get some that is not too fine a particulate as really find particles will go right to the back of the mouth and make the actor gag. It is harmless and will not be too sticky as long as they do reasonably small lines.

Sherbert gives a very funny feeling when snorted - its worth trying just for a laugh - but no use on stage as your likely to induce a crying / laughing / foaming at the nose reaction.

I remember a thread like this a few years ago. My suggestion then was to blow instead of snort. It looks the same as long as the powder gets blown away enough.

How many performances? Don't want them ending up like certain acting types! :)

If they are doing this over a prolonged time any snorting of any substances is going to do the lining of the nose harm.

Would a mini computer vacum be quiet enough to utilise in some way? Posibly concealed in the actors sleave near the cuff?
