Phone app ideas

Following on from the useful phone apps thread, what applications would you like to see or use which don't exist? I ask as I have a new HTC Touch2 running Android, and I've had thoughts about how useful it could be for theatre work if only the right software was available. Plus I'm looking for some new projects for when I graduate and over the summer.

My ideas so far are:

  • An application offering the same functionality as LD Calculator.
  • A LightWrite viewer (probably not so much use in this country).
  • A wireless riggers remote.

Does anyone have any other suggestions for software that they'd find useful?

A Lee Filters swatch, that can be organised by colour, number or name, with colours that actually represent what they look like- maybe with an option to scroll through different kinds of luminaire.

Related to that, a gobo one.

An app that would wirelessly link to a pc, and lob DMX data out of it- or even, one that will (with a bit of hardware attached) use the data port on the phone to throw out DMX.

An RTA that will pick out individual frequencies as they peak, and give you a readout on the screen.

Probably loads more that I could think of...

A riggers remote, compatable for all major lighting desks used today such as; congo, congo jr, ion, orb etc etc. And for it not to be like £40 like some of the mildy useful lighting apps are, I'm told. Also a riggers remote for smaller etc desks such as the startfade ml (because we have one at school! :))

Already exists for the iPhone

Similar apps already exist on the iPhone but would you really trust the microphone in a phone to give you acurate results?

If you don't like the idea of getting an iPhone you could always do what I did and get an iPod touch instead.
